How does the "Network" really benefit a local
district?
"Power in numbers," really does play out for members of WEN Inc.
The "Network" concept provides value in four distinct areas: 1)
Knowledge Sharing, 2) Cost Savings, 3) Unified Collaboration, and
4) Program Implementation. 1-3 are pretty self-explanatory, but how
does 4) program implementation benefit a local district. In short,
if you only have 5-10 students interested in AP Macroeconomics, a
district may not have the FTE capacity to justify this limited
interest. However, being part of the network provides access to
shared resources, so districts partnered with the network can share
one teacher to teach 40-50 students from the district members
throughout Wisconsin. Just the same a local district may have
20 students being taught by other "Network" teachers at the same
time the local district may be teaching 20 students from other
"Network" districts.
Why wouldn't we implement our own program without
WEN Inc.?
Simply put, why recreate the wheel? The Wisconsin eSchool
Network provides an opportunity for school districts to have local
control and autonomy while embracing and implementing quality
online/blended learning with minimal cost, due diligence, time,
energy, resources, and experience. Becoming a member of the Network
immediately provides the opportunity to collaborate with other
school districts throughout the state working to achieve similar
goals of implementing 21st century learning
opportunities.
The Wisconsin eSchool Network has sustained the growing pains
and gains of developing online programs throughout Wisconsin from
nonexistent programs to now robust state and national leading
programs. Let these best practices from the past and the future be
applied to your district's specific goals and vision for
online/blended learning.
The experience, knowledge, and size of the network provide
districts an easy entry point without having to become
contractually obligated to multiple vendors. Regardless of whether
you have a few enrollments or thousands of enrollments you are able
to take advantage of the Network's ability to share cost savings by
holding Network contracts negotiated based on collective enrollment
numbers.
All of this while maintaining local control, with your local
teachers, for your local students, for your local goals!
